Continuing the mission

Since Hand-of-Hope started the “Homeless Meals Project” in January we have had a lot that has happened. To date we have distributed nearly 700 meals to various agencies for them to give to the homeless population they see on a daily basis. We have appeared in the Johnson City Press, The Kingsport Times, and the Erwin Record with articles that have described our nonprofit and the current project. Hand-of-Hope was contacted by WCQR, a Christian radio station in Gray, TN to record a 30 program devote entirely to us and our project. They also recorded a 15 second info spot that runs from time to time. We also were invited to appear on Daytime Tri-Cities, and to speak at a church men’s club breakfast. So to say the least we have been busy!

New project for Hand-of-Hope

Hand-of-Hope will be participating in the Stand Down Homeless Vets Resource Fair. This is a collaboration of many area nonprofits to have an event at Munsey Methodist Church October 7, 2016 from 9am – 3pm. This event will offer veterans free services, haircuts, manicures, food, personal hygiene, dental checkups, and much more. Veterans from many surrounding counties will be transported to the area to take part in this wonderful event. Hand-of-Hope is working to secure the funding to be able to have at least 200 of our meal kits at this event to send back with the veterans that come to participate. We need to raise $500 for this wonderful project. Hand-of-Hope is also chairing the committee to secure other donations for this event. Items needed are backpacks, sleeping bags, socks, insulated thermos, flashlights, baby wipes, hygiene items, hats, gloves, rain ponchos, hand warmers, etc. If you know someone that would like to help us with this event, donate items, or provide funding for meal kits, feel free to contact me for more information.
